Hackney Environment Network (HEN) was formed by volunteers to do the following:
- Support Hackney’s emerging and existing grassroots environmental initiatives’ and the people involved in them by maximising their access to resources
- Map, coordinate, network, and strengthen communication among network members
- Seek to better reflect Hackney's population throughout the network-
- Increase communication on environmental issues between the network, residents, people who work in Hackney, and other members of our third sector and strategic partnership
- Be fully accountable to the network's membership for effective representation on Hackney’s strategic partnership and other forum
Hackney Parks Forum and Hackney Environment Forum received a grant of £3000 from Hackney Community Voluntary Service to research and contact environmental groups in the borough. An inaugural conference was held on 14 March 2009 at the Arcola Theatre. Here are the conference notes.
