EnviroWiki for curious individuals
As well as providing a place for organisations and initiatives to share information about their work, EnviroWiki is also a place for enthusiastic individuals to add in information and discussion. For those who want to get stuck in right away, look at the content ideas below.
Getting started
- First, register or log in. For help registering see Help:Registering and logging in
- If you know what you want to add, find out whether someone has beaten you to it, either by searching for it in the search box (on the left sidebar) or by exploring existing EnviroWiki content.
- If you are pretty sure no entry exists for what you want to write, create a new EnviroWiki entry.
- For help getting to grips with basic wiki language and formatting, see Help:Basic formatting. For other step by step guides to using EnviroWiki, see Help:Step by step guides.
What content are we looking for?
Our first aim is to begin building up category pages for boroughs and local postal areas, whilst also encouraging the environmental activity within those areas to add entries about themselves. Examples of such category pages are Category:London Borough of Hackney and Category:N16.
More detailed help for how to replicate these category pages will be coming soon, but please feel free to copy the source wiki text for anything you feel unable to create from scratch. Just remember to amend the content to make it relevant to your borough!
For initial (and very rudimentary) ideas for some of the other things we would like to see on EnviroWiki, see
Help:EnviroWiki content ideas.
Where to put it
For help deciding what to call your EnviroWiki entries, and where to store them see Help:Indexing EnviroWiki entries
Example EnviroWiki content
To help explain what sort of stuff we'd like to see on EnviroWiki, we have put together a list of example entries
These are very basic ideas to help you get started. If you have ideas you'd like to share with us, or feel that you would like a bit more help before you get started, please email help(@)envirowiki.org.uk.
