From EnviroWiki
A feature of EnviroWiki is the ability to attach a Google map image of a chosen location. This is particularly useful to show the recycling points in a postal area, or for organisations wishing to show where they are based.

Getting started
- Underneath the formatting tool buttons (and just above the editing box) is a "make a map" link. Click on this to open the map.
- Enter the location in the search box and click "search".
- Options that match your search should appear. Click "add to map" on the one that best matches your search.
- The map is automatically shown as a hybrid of both the satellite view of the area as well as highlighting the main roads. If you wish only to view a map of the area (as is advised), click on "Map" on the top right hand corner of the picture.
- If you are not happy with the location denoted by the red pointer, you can move it.
[edit]
Moving the location of the map
- To move the pointer, first you must delete the pointer that has been given. Do this by clicking "remove" on the caption speech bubble.
- You can zoom in and out to show the scale of the map by clicking on the plus and minus signs ("+" and "-") in the left hand corner
- You can change the position of the map by clicking on the arrows (left and right, up and down) in the left hand corner of the picture.
- Once you have found the location that you wish to point to, click on it to create a red pointer. (If you make a mistake, you can delete it by clicking "delete".)
[edit]
Adding a caption
- Once you are happy with the location of the pointer, you can begin entering a description of the location in the caption speech bubble. It is advisable to include the full postal address of the location in the description. E.g.: Scrap Metal Recycling - Los Angeles (title), Buyers of ferrous and non-ferrous metals, 414 W C St, Wilmington, CA 90744 (description).
- Click on "save & close" when you are happy with your description.
[edit]
Adding more than one location
- You can add in as many locations as you wish. They will all be shown on the same map. This is particularly useful for showing multiple recycling points in your local area.
- Each location pointer is added by clicking somewhere on the map.
- Don't forget to save each location once you have completed its description.

Adding the map to the wiki entry
To attach the map to your wiki entry, you need to copy the code that appears once you save a location. The code will begin "< googlemap " and end "< / googlemap >".
Do not preview, save or reload the page until you have copied this code, or the map will be lost.
