A professional body, created at the same time as the first environmental science courses in higher education. The Institution believes that science and professionalism should underpin our understanding and interaction with the environment and should be the driver of society's reactions to environmental problems. Its profession members are very high quality scientists working in every aspect of the environmental filed, from air quality to nuclear power. It also has an affiliate membership made up of members of the general public with an interest in environmental science.
